The pelvic floor is the muscular sling
that supports the major pelvic organs
(including the bladder, bowel, vagina,

Do I reaaally have
muscles down there?

Yes, everyone does! One way to prevent
pelvic floor dysfunction is to maintain a
healthy and strong pelvic floor
. Just like
any muscle group in our body, being
strong and firing at the right time in the
right way will improve overall function.
However, since we can’t see the pelvic
floor, it’s hard to tell if the muscles are
getting weaker or “atrophied”
(which
means they're losing their mass and
becoming smaller).

Why is it important to take
care of this area?

The pelvic floor supports a lot for
our bodies! Maintaining a healthy
pelvic floor means you can say
goodbye to discomfort, leaks,
prolapse, and other disorders.
Pelvic floor dysfunction can be
tricky to identify and treat
,
mostly because those topics are
“taboo” and the symptoms of
pelvic floor muscle problems
aren't only common, but can also
mimic other medical or systemic
issues (like infection).

a strong and healthy pelvic floor
for preventative purposes.
However, if you are experiencing
problems with your pelvic floor,
talk to your pelvic floor therapists
to first get a diagnosis and then
you can start your training.
